Attack On Titan Manga Reading Order
1. Fall of Shiganshina / Battle of Trost Arc (Volumes 1–4)
Titans breach the outermost wall of humanity’s last stronghold, destroying Eren’s hometown and forcing the survivors into a desperate stand at Trost District. Eren discovers a terrifying ability that changes everything. This arc establishes the brutal, no-one-is-safe stakes that define the entire series.
2. Female Titan Arc (Volumes 7–10)
Eren joins the Survey Corps and ventures beyond the walls for the first time. A mysterious Female Titan hunts the Scout Regiment. The revelation of the Female Titan’s identity is the series’ first major plot twist, delivered with devastating timing.
3. Clash of the Titans Arc (Volumes 10–13)
The walls fall again as the Beast Titan emerges. The true nature of the Titans is revealed — a revelation that reframes everything the reader thought they knew about the world. This mid-series pivot point elevates Attack on Titan from great to extraordinary.
4. Royal Government Arc (Volumes 13–18)
Eren and his friends uncover the corrupt interior politics of humanity’s remaining government. The investigation into the truth of their world deepens with the Historia and Erwin storylines, and the anti-hero aspects of Levi and the Survey Corps are explored with moral complexity.
5. Return to Shiganshina Arc (Volumes 18–22)
The Survey Corps launches a desperate mission to reclaim Eren’s hometown and the secrets hidden in the basement. The Battle of Shiganshina is a tactical masterpiece and emotional gut-punch. Erwin Smith’s charge is one of the most iconic scenes in manga history. The basement revelation changes the entire scope of the story.
6. Marley Arc (Volumes 22–26)
A stunning perspective shift: the narrative moves to the perspective of Marley — the nation that has been the story’s unseen enemy. Reiner’s backstory and the political complexity of the Marleyan world add moral ambiguity that distinguishes AOT from most shonen manga.
7. War for Paradis Arc (Volumes 26–34)
The story culminates in a global conflict as Eren launches the Rumbling — a catastrophic event that pits former allies against him. The final arc is divisive among fans but consistently bold. The ending has been debated since publication; read it yourself without spoilers.
Attack On Titan Spinoffs and Extras
These are optional companion works. The main series is self-contained.

Attack on Titan: No Regrets
A 2-volume spinoff covering Levi and Erwin’s origin stories and how they joined the Survey Corps. Highly recommended for fans — best read after Vol. 10 of the main series when Levi’s significance becomes clear.

A non-canon comedy spinoff imagining the cast as middle school students. Purely comedic and optional.
Should You Read Attack On Titan or Watch the Anime First?
The Attack on Titan anime by Wit Studio (Seasons 1–3) and MAPPA (The Final Season) is widely considered one of the greatest anime productions in history. The animation quality, score by Hiroyuki Sawano, and voice performances are exceptional. Unlike most long-running series, Attack on Titan has essentially no filler — the anime is a faithful adaptation. Both the manga and anime are excellent; many fans do both. If you have already watched the anime, the manga is worth reading for the additional detail and the somewhat different presentation of the ending in the final chapters.
Where to Read Attack On Titan Manga
All 34 volumes are available from Kodansha USA in physical format. Digital access is available through Crunchyroll Manga and Amazon Kindle. The series is complete, making it an ideal purchase as a full collection.
