Chainsaw Man is an ongoing manga by Tatsuki Fujimoto, serialized by Shueisha from 2018 onward. Part 1 (11 volumes, 2018–2020) is set in a world where fears manifest as Devils; Denji merges with his dog-devil Pochita to become Chainsaw Man and works for the government hunting Devils. Part 2 (ongoing from 2022) follows Asa Mitaka and Yoru, the War Devil, as a new story begins. Chainsaw Man is celebrated for its subversive approach to shonen tropes, emotional brutality, and genuinely unpredictable plotting.

Chainsaw Man Reading Order

Part 1: Public Safety Arc (Volumes 1–11)

Denji joins the Public Safety Devil Hunters under the charismatic Makima and makes friends he wants to protect. The series systematically dismantles shonen conventions — every expectation is subverted. The Katana Man, Bomb Girl, and International Assassins arcs build to a devastating conclusion in Vols 9–11.

Part 2: Academy Arc (Volumes 12+, Ongoing)

A new protagonist, Asa Mitaka (host of the War Devil Yoru), navigates a high school setting where Devils have been accepted into society. Denji appears as a classmate in disguise. Part 2 takes a completely different structural approach from Part 1 — slower, more character-driven, and building toward new revelations.
